Photomonth celebrates 10 years

photomonth is a celebration of photography. In 2010 there are over 200 exhibitions and events in East London and beyond. To mark our 10th anniversary we have created a series of special projects including a new photolounge at the Old Truman Brewery, images along the East London Line from Dalston Junction to Shoreditch High Street, eatyourartout where you can enjoy exhibitions in a wide range of restaurants, bars and cafés, photomonth live for your mobile and the photomonth assignment for all those up to the challenge. We are also partnering the Brighton Photo Fringe and collaborating with Rhubarb-Rhubarb to give you even more inspiration. photomonth owes its growing success to the open-call for photographers, galleries and venues to participate in this inclusive festival. Over a period of two months you can explore the East End of London and discover all forms of photographic practice from dynamic photojournalism to social documentary and fine art. Stunningly original and often with that unaccountable, jawdropping quality, photography is exquisitely adaptable as a contemporary art form. Inventive, thought provoking, strange and dazzling images will confront you, expanding your universe — opening up ideas, issues, possibilities, showing what a profound and mysterious thing a photograph can be. photomonth presents a full programme of lectures, seminars, practical workshops, entertaining events and a youth award, with opportunities for everyone to engage with photography. We would like to express our thanks to Amnesty International, London Metropolitan University, Old Truman Brewery, The Outside World, PhotoVoice, Rivington Place and Shoot Experience for their extensive programmes in support of photomonth and all the photographers and venues that make photomonth the largest photography festival in the UK.
